26 Weeks With Rash on Arms and Legs. Very Itchy! Anyone Else Experience This?

I have been experiencing small hive/rash-like bumps on my arms and legs. They are very itchy. I pretty much itch all over but mainly on arms and legs. I have tried Calamine lotion, Aloe Vera gel, Hydrocortizone cream, Gold Bond Medicated lotion, and Benadryl with no success. Some of them just work temporarily. We did just adopt a dog from the Humane Society but I have never been allergic to dogs, ever. I checked to make sure she doesn’t have fleas and couldn’t find any. She also has an appt with the groomer today for a flea shampoo and dip (just in case). Anyone else experience this itchy rash during their pregnancy? What was the cause and/or what helped? I swear, as soon as one thing goes away, another starts– ughhhh!
I have an appt w/ OB doc tomorrow.

Here is some information that will be helpful Good Luck To You! God Bless!!

PUPPP – (pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy)
This condition is the most common dermatosis (skin condition) of pregnancy. The cause was unknown until recently when Dr Selim Aracting and colleagues from France reported studies linking PUPPP with cells from the developing baby (foetus). Their studies suggest that foetal cells can invade the mother’s skin during pregnancy, and in some way cause this skin disorder to develop.

Symptoms and signs
What red raised spots or bumps that itch strongly.
Where the rash usually starts on the abdomen and spreads to the thighs. Occasionally, the rash spreads to arms and buttocks. The face is never involved.
When the rash usually appears after 34 weeks of pregnancy and disappears after childbirth, but can recur with subsequent pregnancy.
Complications
This condition causes no harm to mother or baby.

Treatment
Corticosteroids applied to the skin (topical) are known to give prompt relief.
Sometimes oral corticosteroids (eg prednisolone) are needed.

Questions on shaving legs?

So, I’ve googled around in this thing. I tend to have leg zits and itches after shaving. And now I want to know some info on some parts of shaving your legs. Im planning to use oatmeal scrub ( oatmeal +water ) for exfoliating. Is it okay to use the oatmeal that is meant to be eaten on your legs? For example, I wish to use my Quacker Oatmeal to make a scrub. Is it okay? And can I use my Johnson’s pH 5.5 2 in 1 Body Wash with Moisturizers as the shaving cream? It works up a good lather so i want to know whether it is suitable. And Im planning to use aloe vera gel to moisturize my legs after shaving but when I googled, they say it is best to consult the doctor before you plan to use aloe vera . Im not really sure. Does aloe vera have any side effects? And is olive oil as good as any other high quality moisturizer? What are some over-the-counter cheap products I can use to moisturize? And Im an an 16 year old asian, so Im living in Malaysia with the weather that is hot and humid. I want the products that goes with the weather here. And finally I want to know whether shaving is done before or after showering? Personal experience will be good.
Simon Smith answers:

You can make a scrub out of any kind of unsweetened oatmeal. Put 1/2 cup oatmeal and 1/4 cup salt in a blender. Hit the Grind button for a second, then shake it up and grind again for a second or two. Add 1/2 cup warm water, 1/4 cup baby oil or light olive oil, and 2 tablespoons of lemon juice. (You can but lemon juice in a bottle. Get the cheap kind.). Stir well. Store in a covered container in the fridge.

I use cheap hair conditioner instead of shaving cream or soap to shave my legs. It softens the hair so the razor slides right through it, and it leaves skin nice and soft. Try it once and see how you like it.

A sunburn unfortunatly doesnt go away over night. It will probably be red for a week or so. Try to rub aloe gel DIRECTLY on your skin that should reduce some of the apin and swelling. If still not better in a week or if it gets anymore worse go see a doctor.

And dont forget sunscreen next time

Aloe is good for healing your skin and keeping it moist. It helps a little for pain but Vinegar is the best if you are suffering. Get a spray bottle and spray it on, this help reduce skin irritation of rubbing application of products like aloe.

I have lived in Australia for more than 20 years and I have had my share of burns. That is, hands down the best treatment for pain of sunburn. Only…. You smell like pickles…yuummmmm

The bad news is that if you get a burn your skin will more than likely peel along with any possibility of tanning. The trick to tanning is to get small doses of sun. You have to build up to the exposure without burning.

At night before bed use aloe, it will help your skin heal.
I feel your pain…good luck

You can try using 100% aloe gel. It woks great on bug bits and since it doesn’t have medication in it, you can use it over large areas of you body (such as your legs). I use it quite often on my own body as mosquitoes absolutely love me. You can use the aloe gel from your own plant or purchase 100% aloe from most chemists or natural health food stores.

Psoriasis question?

Hello to you all! I have had psoriasis for about 2 years now and have tried several gp’s and dermatologists for help. I have been on all types of creams. A few of the steroidal creams that I have used have cleared it up with frequent use, but then it always returns and if I use the same cream it fails to work. I recently lost my insurance and have been trying some home rememdies. I always get an oat bath twice a day and use aloe vera gel and aloe vera lotion after each bath. It helps keep the itching and flaking away, but the redness persists. Anyways, I read some where on here that Turmeric helps some sufferers. Has anyone tried this spice to help and if you did, how long did you have to take it before you saw any relief? Also, what do you do at home to help your psoriasis? Also, what med’s have worked best for you, perscription or non-perscription? Thank you so much in advance! God Bless!

Simon Smith answers:

No medications or miracle creams will clear your psoriasis. Some creams might ease the itch but that is all.
Psoriasis Is definitely an Autoimmune system failure, your body is telling you that’s it simply cannot cope with what you are feeding it. I doubt whether l will ever meet a psoriasis sufferer whom isn’t a celiac (intolerant to gluten). But there can be many other reasons why your immune system is not coping. There’s no mystery as to the psoriasis itself Acrylamide does play a role in psoriasis as do the food addictives (citrics) by eliminating these from your diet your psoriasis will clear up. This has been validated time and time again.
By using a tissue plasminogen activator it is possible to analyse the difference in normal and (psoriasis) pathological skin samples. The difference is a high calcium medium is found in pathological skin samples, in normal skin samples very little calcium is found in comparison.
This indeed makes sense as the most common sites of psoriasis especially plague psoriasis (the most common form of psoriasis) are of local trauma sites
This is also known as the “Koebner phenomenon
A BALANCE DIET IS THE KEY TO MANY HEALTH BENEFITS.
Natural whole foods have a package of nutrients and many beneficial factors that are not found in supplements. You won’t find the essential elements in calcium ascorbate (VC) as you would in a real orange. An orange contains Vitamin C. With carotene, calcium, folate and fibre. There are other reasons for getting our nutrients from foods than supplements. There is no evidence that taking supplements can give you the same protection. Vitamin supplements to be avoided, especially Ascorbic Acid-Vitamin C (Food Additive Code 300) and Calcium Ascorbate (Food Additive Code E302). Also to be avoided: B complex Multivitamins.
Natural foods give you components that increase nutrient absorption in the body.
Supplements can reduce absorption of other nutrients.
Psoriasis Is Avoidable. Your Psoriasis Itch and rash will stop once you understand what causes Psoriasis. Learn that most processed foods, soft drinks, etc can affect you. Learn to avoid those foods that affect you. Learn to eat healthily.

An oatmeal bath will help immensely, and oats are something you are likely to have around the house. Use about a cup of rolled oats and either crush them with the back of a spoon or whiz them in a blender or a food processor a couple times. You just want it to be almost like powder. Then put the powder into a coffee filter and put an elastic around the top, kind of like making an oatmeal tea bag.
Run the water as hot as possible into the bathtub and put your oatmeal “tea bag” into it (at the end the water is not running at). Leave it to soak until the bath is a tolerable temperature for you to get in.
Soak in the bath for no more than 10 minutes. You can squeeze more of the oatmeal-y liquid into the bath while you are in, just make sure not to burst the bag.
I hope this helps!
Also, if you need something during the day, I recommend getting a non-drowsy antihistamine like Reactine or Claritin.

Razor burn on vagina?

I shaved with a really dull and cheap razor on tuesday and then had sex and wore tight clothing in really hot weather (smart, I know). The next day, I noticed pimples on the part where I shaved. And then didn’t learn and did more sweat filled activities such as dance. Anyway, the pimples and bumps got irritated lovely and now they hurt. Is this razor burn?

I’ve used aloe Vera gel to calm it down and it has worked. I just wanna know when this uncomfortableness will go away.

I’m presuming you mean your pubic area? Your vagina is the bit inside your body surely you haven’t shaved there – there are no hairs inside lol. Anyway yes it will get better in time and in approximately 7 days it will itch like hell when the hairs regrow. You have listed all the things you did wrong so hopefully you won’t do them again.

T-zone help ? !?

I have really nice, smooth skin that rarely breaks out except for my t-zone ! It’s like every other part of my face is perfect except in between my eyebrows, around my nose and my chin ! It is kind of annoying because it seems as though I can never get rid of the little pimples in these areas and when I do it’s not long before more show up.. They aren’t horrible looking or anything and with a little cover-up I don’t think anyone would say anything but it’s just the fact that I know they’re there..
I just switched to a new cleanser called Nutri-Pure by Garnier and it has vitamin B5, E and Green LEaf Extract..It’s supposed to be good for your face but it just works like everything else I’ve tried..I use a natural aloe-gel for a moisturizer that is supposed to be good for your face as well and I exfoliate 1-2 times a week .

Should I go for a product with sylic acid ? I don’t want it to dry my skin out though..Any suggestions?
Thanks !

Simon Smith answers:

Alright, you have a condition called combination/acne-prone skin. Since the oil glands around your t-zone are going in over-drive, you definetly need cleansers that will work harder in controlling them than what you are already using. Therefore, yes, salicylic acid is one of the chemicals you should look for in cleansers.
Here is a detailed skin regime I have made out for you:

1) Wash face with cleanser. You’ve probably already tried this, but give it a try one more time: Neutrogena Oilfree Acnewash. It is mild, gentle, yet effective in removing oil, dirt and impurities. It contains beta-hydroxy acids, with 2% salicylic acne medication to target and prevent those unsightly blemishes.
2) Wipe face with toner. Toners remove extra residue, offer more acne fighting salicyclic acid and tighten up your pores. I like Noxema Triple Clean Astrigent. Do not rinse off.
3) Apply a moisturizer. Even if you have the most oiliest complexions, you need this. The more moisture you zap from your skin, the more your oil glands try to compensate for the loss by creating more oils, and therefore more pimples. Therefore, use an oilfree moisturizer such as Olay Total Effects Acne Blemish lotion – this is ultra light, effective, and even matifies your skin.
4) Lastly, apply a thin coat of benzoyl peroxide on your pimples and any areas that are susceptible to breakouts. This means the area between your eyebrows, around nose, and chin – even if there arent any pimples at the moment, benzoyl peroxide is a good way of preventing them. I like Clean and Clear Persagel; it contains 5% b.p. Medication.
***Do this twice a day: morning and night***
****By the way, do not worry about drying out your face. Salicylic acid is gentle and will not strip skin of moisture. If it is too harsh for your skin, look for formulas with lower concentrations such as 1% of 0.5% salicylic acid.
If you want all natural acne medication, another alternative is tea tree oil mixed with aloe gel.
Good luck
