What should you be looking
for in the Best Vitamin Supplement?
One: Bio-availability
Certain forms of vitamins are more easily
absorbed than others. The best vitamin supplement has high
bio-availability which always occurs with a product rich in all
things necessary for a healthy body function. That is amino
acids, enzymes, phytonutrients, minerals and vitamins.
Two: The right
balance of nutrients...
And co-factors must be contained
synergistically in the best vitamin supplement product. This is
important so you don't end up with any toxic buildup or that
you deplete the existing levels of other vitamins because your
body has to make good the balance. ie When taking a calcium
supplement it should be 2:1 ratio with magnesium. That is 2
parts Calcium and 1 part magnesium (not to mention the other 24
minerals / vitamins that must be present) If the supplement is
too high in magnesium then the body has to balance the calcium.
The bones and teeth are the best sources of calcium when the
body needs to balance quickly.... Hmmm need I say more!
Three: Enough of a
vitamin or phytonutrient...
To actually make a difference to your body.
This may seem like stating the obvious, but trace amounts of
herbs or antioxidants often do more for the bottle than for
you...
Four: Vitamin /
Mineral absorbtion...
In the body is a little tricky. Products that
are chelated with amino acids are ok having 20 to 40%
absorbtion. Colloidial or ionic liquid form are best having
upto 98% absorbtion. However, my pick of this group is
absolutely "ionic liquid". In nature everything has an
electrical charge when it is alive. Products that are ionic
still contain the LIVE element as nature intended. This means
when it gets in your body it is electrically attracted to cells
that need it, reducing the hit and miss effect of other types
of supplement. This tends to go hand in hand with
bio-availability and having the right balance of nutrients.
Five: Confusing
product claims or terms
For example, something can be labeled organic
but sourced from animal or plant tissue, or raw materials like
coal tar and wood pulp. There's a big difference in quality
there...
Six: Know your
RDA
Or recommended daily allowance. This is a
generalisation - as people have different activity levels,
lifestyles, etc. But its a good starting point.
