Aloe Vera FAQ
When I first lauched my Aloe Vera Health Benefits website I was only getting a few enquiries/questions each week. Now 1 year on over the course of a week I can get many hundreds of questions regarding Aloe Vera.
Unfortuately the logistics of managing this extra workload has forced me to make a decision on how to best handle this predicament going forward. While I love being able to help each person who contacts me with their question on an individual basis I have observed many questions are similar or the same.
So I decided the best way to manage this was to make up an FAQ page. If your question is still not answered fully after reviewing the FAQ then by all means please drop me a line using our contact form.

Question 2: "How do I tell if I am buying a good quality Aloe Vera Juice or Gel?"
Answer Q2: Over the years I have tried many different brands of Aloe. There are many things I look for when assessing an Aloe source but these are the key ones:-
1. Is the product Certified by the Aloe Science Council ? - IASC (International Aloe Science Council)
2. Is it "natural" or Certified Organically grown ? - QAI (Quality Assurance International)
3. How is the Aloe processed ? If it is dried, heated, parts are isolated (some use caustic substances) in any way it will be an inferior product to one which does not use these in processing.
4. What part of the Aloe is being used ? The skin part of the Aloe Vera plant has long been used in laxative products. That's why it is important to find a brand that uses the inner gel only.
5. Is the end product liquid and ionic ? An ionic product is one (Alive - life force still intact) Being a liquid it has 98% absorption - meaning more stays in your body and doesn't end up down the toilet. (or each dollar spent 98c is used). Pills or capsules typically only have 20% absorption at best or 80c down the toilet.
Before I understood the importance of "liquid" and "ionic" I was taking 17 pills 3 times a day. (Yuk!)

Question 3: I have an Aloe Vera plant growing in my back yard - Can I use this?
Answer Q3: There are over 200 different varieties of Aloe Vera but only a few are known to produce medicinal benefits particularly with reference to internal use. Thre variet to look for is Barbadensis Miller. If you are unsure of the variety you have then for all the hassel you will go though preparing, storing etc you may find it better to buy a product off the shelf (see question 1)
The "gel fillet" is the part you want. The other parts can be toxic depending on your health and are used in laxative products. (great if you are looking for a laxative).
As for the amount to take? Aloe Vera is a plant and therefore a food source. So it shouldn't cause you any problems unless you are allergic. This link should be helpful Aloe Vera Recipe.
I would be inclined to start eating a small amount (say 1/2 inch block) and increase the amount every 3 or 4 days until your "poo" gets soft or runny and ease back to the amount you were consuming before.... hope this all makes sense? This answers the only disadvantage I know ..... a soft poo when you take too much. Amazing how quick you can locate a toilet even in unfamiliar territory !!
Eating "Raw Aloe Vera" can be pretty disgusting. Mixing with other foods is okay. Shouldn't be a problem to come up with some ideas if you are handy in the kitchen and around food. As Aloe is a food, personal taste and common sense are usually as good a guide as you need for what you mix it with. Juicing can be a good option. I would look to hear your recipes and success stories.
